Late 80s Sportster came in two sizes. The 1200 is favoured over the 883cc engined bike, with more power and considerably more torque for effortless cruising in any gear. Restore and upgrade older versions of the bike with high performance carbs and air intakes, bolt on exhaust piping to get more of the engine sound and further improved breathing, and experiment with sprocket and pulley configurations to get the acceleration you need. Change out tired seats, put in new discs and pads, and replace linear springs with progressive variants up front paired with matching shocks at the back
