The late 90s Road King came in carbureted or fuel-injected guises. Both had their own devout followers, but the carbureted Evo engines were easier to maintain. Shop for rebuild kits or completely packaged new 'shorty' carbs to retain that old-school feel, pair this with new air cleaners, refresh worn clutch plates with new friction and pressure plates, and adjust the gearing with sprockets and compatible belt drives to liven up the throttle. To hear more of the V-twin rumble, add slip-ons or a full exhaust system, consider new fork springs and rear absorbers for backroads, and get more cushioning comfort with a new aftermarket seat.
